Virtual Lunch & Learn
Sickle Cell Prodigy and Unidos Por La Luna invites individuals living with sickle cell disease, caregivers, families, and members of the sickle cell community to join us for a virtual Lunch & Learn conducted entirely in Spanish on Friday, December 18, 2026.

This educational event will focus on Lyfgenia and treatment center availability, creating an opportunity for Spanish-speaking individuals and families to learn more about gene therapy and explore information that may help them make informed decisions about their treatment journey.
Featuring Marcelo Vargas Banos from Genetix Biotherapeutics, the session will include an educational presentation, a patient and caregiver panel, and a Q&A portion. By incorporating lived experiences from across the treatment journey—including preparation, treatment, and post-treatment care—we hope to create space for meaningful conversations, shared learning, and questions that matter to patients and their families.

Whether you are just beginning to learn about treatment options, actively exploring gene therapy or transplant, preparing for treatment, or supporting a loved one, this session is designed to help you access accurate information about an FDA-approved gene therapy while offering firsthand knowledge from patients and caregivers who have received a curative therapy.

* Following the 90-mins educational portion, participants are invited to stay for the regular Spanish Support Group session, providing additional time to connect with peers, share experiences, and strengthen community relationships.
