Spanish Support Group
Building Community, Support, and Hope for Spanish-Speaking Families
Sickle Cell Prodigy's Spanish Support Group (SSG) was created by Maite Rodriguez & Alexandra Abreu Minier to address a critical gap in the sickle cell community: the lack of culturally and linguistically appropriate support for Spanish-speaking patients and care partners navigating gene therapy, stem cell transplantation, and survivorship. The support group was developed to help close these gaps by creating a safe, welcoming space where participants can:
-
Connect with others who share similar experiences
-
Learn from patients, care partners, and experts
-
Discuss challenges and successes related to sickle cell disease
-
Receive support before, during, and after curative therapies
-
Access culturally responsive education and resources

Program Schedule
The group meets virtually on the last Friday of each month making participation accessible regardless of geographic location.
