 Unexpected Survivor Outcomes

Sickle Cell Prodigy recognizes that outcomes following curative-intent therapies vary among individuals. While many patients experience meaningful clinical improvement, others may face graft failure, incomplete engraftment, ongoing pain, complications, or emotional distress related to unmet expectations.

For many, the hardest part isn’t the medical outcome—it’s the emotional gap between what they hoped treatment would bring and what life actually looks like afterward.

It's Okay To Not Be Okay...

Disappointment does not mean failure. It does not mean the treatment was a mistake, or that you didn’t try hard enough. It means your experience is real, complex, and worthy of care.

This space exists to:

  • Name unmet expectations without shame

  • Normalize mixed outcomes and ongoing symptoms

  • Validate grief, frustration, anger, or uncertainty

  • Remind you that support should not end when treatments fail to meet your expectations

Healing is not linear. Thriving doesn’t require perfection. And needing continued care—medical, emotional, or social—does not diminish the courage it took to pursue these types of treatments.

At Sickle Cell Prodigy, we believe in caring for what comes next, even when the next phase fails to meet our expectations. You are not alone, and your story matters.

The Wellness Lab

That’s why Sickle Cell Prodigy created the Wellness Lab.

The Wellness Lab is a dedicated space for survivors navigating the after—a place to process disappointment, rebuild trust in your body, and explore tools that support whole-person wellness.

We are developing a Wellness Toolkit intentionally designed to benefit both patients with successful outcomes and those with unsuccessful or complex outcomes.

Here, survivorship is honored as complex, personal, and worthy of care.

You are not broken.
You are not behind.
And you do not have to navigate this chapter alone.

Enter the Wellness Lab to begin your next phase of healing.
